Hello members of Duke Nukem Repository!

If you are over at Duke4.net, you can probably ingore this, but there may be members over here that do not visit Duke4.net so I want to spread this as far as I can, there are three things that I have released, one of them is not solely my work. Not sure I am in the right subforum as other people have posted just about everywhere (that and I am scared of hijacking attention from Gambini's map as he deserves the attention more than I do.).

First up, it's the NBCBP - This has contributions from various members, I didn't start this project - oporix did, but I finished it, if you visit MSDN, you will already know about this - http://msdn.duke4.net/hotnbcbp.shtml so check that out if you haven't already and are interested.

Second it is Preston Road
This was my first ever map, it is unplayable for most people as it requires Polymer and DukePlus, but uses never before seen effects in the renderer, consider it a demo of the renderer's and my capabilities. The map is a suburban type level and is medium sized, gameplay is simple old blow stuff up and find the keys. Get it here! There is also a (slightly outdated) YouTube video playing through the whole map.

There is also a thread at Duke4.net with more information.

Third, EDF Computer Base
This was technically the third map I released, it was built over the space of eight days and is somewhat unfinished as I abandoned it, I personally feel the gameplay aspect is there and there are some neat effects such as arched bridges that will even work in eight bit (Even MS-DOS!) and you can walk over and under them. The map was designed with the HRP in mind, but it is not a requirement.

It is a base type map with a simple goal, kill the enemies, find the keys and throw a bomb down into the computer core ventilation to blow it up before talking a walk over the evil bridge to the exit. Get it here!

- Anyhow, thanks for looking, see, the mapping scene is far from dead.

No chance of these being hosted then? Sad

Hey! I´ve seen your projects in duke4.net but i´m afraid this site is a sort of shelter for those (like me) that don´t like polymer or hrp stuff. Not trying to discourage you but i doubt anybody is going to be interested, not because the quality but because the aforesaid reason.

Why do I recall Puritan replying to this topic?

Makes sense I guess, The EDF Computer Base was not built for Polymer/HRP specifically, runs fine in DOS mode too, but the quality does lack on that, as for the NBCBP, that's already at MSDN anyway. Can't blame me for trying to spread things as far as I can though eh? Cheesy I'm just losing motivation a tad to be honest, kinda want to see my stuff hosted as I don't think it's any worse than some of the stuff that I have seen get through and seeing hits on my stuff would likely motivate me a bit or at least put me in a good mood for a change.

That and I've heard you don't like noob mappers around here Wink

Why do I recall Puritan replying to this topic?

I seem to remember the same, but I had to go out before I could read it, when I got back I hit F5 on the page and it wasn't there... Must have been a glitch or else he deleted it... Maybe he thought I was an April fool (It was April 1st I think) seeing as I don't really post here.

Doesn't matter anyway, I'll just leave my legacy to die as I don't know if I will put any more maps out, might squeeze one more out for each of the Build games (though obviously the other games are not relevant here) but that'll likely be it.

Puritan did reply. He deleted it for reasons only he knows.

HRP, Polymer, 8 bit...shouldn't be relevant to whether or not it gets hosted.

You might not get the audience or feedback in the forums here as much as you would at Duke4, but at this point, I think that applies to almost every map.

lol at the noobs. Nobody runs off noobs (ask Arghantyl or coheed82), unless they do something incredibly unethical (i.e. steal map material and call it their own, or fake the file date stamp on their releases).

This site went off line for a week or two and all the noobs went to Duke4 and never came back.

Sorry, I don't have to much time on my hands anymore.

So, I'm not spending time on DP/polymer only projects.

Projects that requires mods should go into a section of it's own on the front page.
Until Kim makes one I'll have to give preference to maps that everybody can play.

I can confirm that.DNR is a peaceful community, no one is injuried (unless in Sanek 's and Gambini's maps  Wink)

DukeNukem 3D is game with a 3D environment and 2D tools which makes the game
very beautiful and chip.
Use HRP and polymer is down_grade this game and perhaps like you v'said easiest for a mapper Angry

DN 3D  is the best FPS for some reasons which doesn't need graphic remakes:
_Better environment interaction from all FPS never made
_Main character has a incredible charisma
_Balanced gameplay for Solo and DM (we reach perfection like for Starcraft)
_Unlimited lifetime

To build maps must be pleasure taken seriously and not a work.
Nobody will injury you if you try something. Cheesy

@Forge; Fair enough, I wouldn't be expecting a huge audience anyway, the thing about the noobs was just a joke in reference to a post I once saw here... I can't remember who posted it though so it was probaby wasted. As for the site going offline, if you look at when I registered, the site was offline while I registered - figure that one out.

@Puritan; No problem, there was no harm in me asking and now I know the answer, that is fair enough... Didn't know Kim was still around (or perhaps that is the point you are making). NBCBP is a mod/add-on in itself, only thing that requires is EDuke32, though that may be a turn-off around here for all I know, and it is at least already hosted elsewhere. EDF Computer Base does not require anything beyond Duke 3D v1.4 and up. I respect your decision and your lack of time, thanks for your response.

@Arghantyl; ROTFL, I remember Sanek on AMC, "Check out my REAL GOOD maps" that thread is always a good read when I have nothing to do. I feel what you say about Vanilla Duke 3D, I used to format my bullet lists like you did there, I think that was because of some BBS I used to visit where using the > symbol made your text dissapear (presumably trying to dump it to a file) and apparently caused problems. I only build maps if I am enjoying it, hence why the EDF map I made was abandoned, there just wasn't any fun left to be had in it's construction.
